State of Forest Report

The Forest Survey of India does produce a biennial report on the India State of the Forest, with the fourteenth report – 2015 was published. As they have done for the past 28 years, this year also they have made certain new information regarding our forest there by helping our policy makers and various stakeholders to have a better utilization of the available resource in sustainably.
            In the latest report for the year 2015 has include chapter on the different characteristics of the Forest types found in India. As all us not blessed to visit the various forest that are found in India but the present description help us to have better nature of the forest and also their diversity. At the end of the article, the reader will surely feel that forest are not just simply trees but a community of trees that does interact with various other component such as shrubs and grasses, wildlife including the microorganisms.

            The main aim of describing the characteristics of the forest is to assess the health of the forest. It also important to appreciate the existing condition in forest types is very important from the point of the conservation and management. FSI has described the forest based on the National Forest atlas that was published in the year 2011. This article is just a comprehensive of the detailed chapter on” Important Characteristics of Different Forest Types Groups” by FSI. The FSI has prepared its report based on the field data that it collected from 2006 to 2014 in 180 randomly laid district throughout India.
